My ten year old son Kendall agreed to go with me to a Saturday morning estate auction. In the old work shop we found an old whirligig that was in a state of disrepair. We bidded on the box lot that contained the whirligig and our bid won. Kendall was fascinated with the whirligig and asked his father to help him make the needed repairs to the whirligig. With scrape wood, nails, sand paper and 4 cans of Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint. One of the goals of the project was to apply new paint and use sandpaper on the paint to maintain old charm. This simple project introduced Kendall to some basic in wood working and the art of spray painting. Kendall tells me that spray painting requires a lot of preparation, thought, steady hands and smooth application. The 40 year old Whirligig from an auction lot box has found new life in the hands of a ten year old boy. The wings of the whirligig now turns in our yard for others to see and enjoy.
